Walking In The Spirit

Walking In The Spirit

Text:

Romans 8:1-17

Memory Verse:

Galatians 5:25

To walk in the Spirit is to have habitual fellowship with the God-head, to be led, guided, directed, and controlled by the Holy Spirit taking one step at a time under His instructions. The Holy Spirit is probably the least known member of the God-head. For this reason, the Holy Spirit has not been given His rightful place in the lives of many believers and the work of God. “He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost” (Acts 19:2). A great proportion of Christians do not even know that they are the temple of the Holy Spirit. “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God and ye are not your own?”(I Cor 6:19). This is evident by the way they live. The life of the New Testament believer is essentially a LIFE of
the Spirit. Walking in the Spirit is not something we do periodically but the whole life of the believer. The Holy Spirit was given and He dwells in us so He can completely order the course of our lives. For the believer to reach his/her full potentials in life and to please God in both life and ministry, he/she therefore as a matter of fact must learn to walk in the Spirit.

BENEFITS OF WALKING IN THE SPIRIT

1. You will not fulfill the lust of the flesh – Gal 5:16, Rom 8:5
2. Freedom from condemnation – Rom 8:1-2
3. The finished work of Christ is a reality for those who walk in the Spirit – Rom 8:3-4
4. Life and peace – Rom 8:6-7,13
5. A life that pleases God – Rom 8:8, Rev 4:11, Prov 16:7
6. Intimacy with the Father – Rom 8:14-17
7. Manifestation of the fruit of the Spirit- Gal 5:22-25(GNT), John 15:4-6 (MSG)
8. A productive life – 1 Tim.4:7-8(EASY)
