Memory Verse:
Thanksgiving services are often scheduled by churches, giving opportunities for the members to give thanks for God’s blessings in their lives. It is definitely not meant to be an occasional practice, because thanksgiving ought to be an every time, every moment thing for believers. “In everything give thanks…” “Giving thanks always for all things to God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1Thess. 5:18a; Eph. 5:20).
Our lives are filled with so many blessings that it will take more than a lifetime to give thanks enough; the more we give thanks, the more we realize that there’s more to be grateful for.
We often give thanks for the outward, physical blessings—the promotions, prosperity, our well-being—which is great, but how about the inward blessings, the work of redemption in our lives?
Redemption brought great benefits: God’s love, the Holy Spirit, peace of mind, grace, healing, prosperity, forgiveness—it’s a long inexhaustible list. Let’s take some time to see a few and give thanks looking inwards for the weightier blessings, the source of the outward blessings.
“By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” (Heb. 13:15)
