Overview on the Holy Spirit

Text:

John 14:15-18, 26 15:26-27, 16:12-15, Ephesians 1:13-14(MSG)

Memory Verse:

The last words of a man are usually highly valued and treasured because at that point, he speaks from the deepest part of his heart; no one to impress, no time to express so he says volumes in one or two sentences. As believers, it will do us a great world of good if we pay some close attention to the last words of Jesus to His disciples before going to the cross. Three chapters in the Gospel, according to John
contain a great part of what we could call His valedictory speech; chapters 14, 15 and
16. Please take some time to read these chapters as often as possible.
In these chapters, He said a lot of things to comfort His disciples who were already disheartened that He was leaving. One of the things He emphasised was the coming of the Holy Ghost, the promise of the Father. It was an experience greater than words can express that the disciples had with Jesus physically present with them 24/7 but Jesus
said “…I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” He spoke about
this Helper at least four times in those three chapters on Who He is and what He will do in and for the believer. The Amplified version of the Bible helps us understand this better by stating the full meaning of the word “Helper” from its Greek meaning
Parakletos: Counsellor, Comforter, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Stand
by. Wow! A lot of times I wonder how a great number of believers go about their lives
ignoring this mighty provision and loving gift of the Father.
He is the One with whom we have been sealed till the day of redemption, He is our guarantee that we will receive all God has promised; the first instalment, He is the One
who teaches us ALL things, guides us into ALL truth, reveals the Father to us – His heart, His will and all He has freely given to us, He is the great power of God, the One who
empowers us to witness, equips us for effective service…so much to say about Him.
There is no telling how much benefit He is to the believer and the church as a whole.
Well, glory to God! we are on a discovery journey with a collection of studies on Him and His operations in and for the believer and the church as a body. Too many believers have denied themselves of great benefits and suffered harm unnecessarily through
ignorance and negligence of this great Gift from the Father who is actually same with the Father and the Son.
It is my prayer for you that God will open your eyes and flood your heart with light as you go through these studies. I tell you, you can never never never be the same as you
pay attention to these teachings and allow them be a reality in your life. The body of Christ as a whole will experience and express the glory of God too in greater measures
than ever as we give Him the room to do all that He is here to do.
