Just as money is the legal tender used to purchase or acquire anything in the world, so is faith to the believer in getting anything from God, and pleasing Him. You received Christ obviously by faith. Consequently, any other thing you will ever receive from God must be by faith.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is purely by faith. The manifestation of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit is also only possible by faith; it is never by begging, pleading or crying. YOU RECEIVE BY FAITH.
The Holy Spirit can do nothing in the life of a believer without faith: yielding your life, being led, hearing His voice and His workings in you are all by faith.

Faith is purely a spiritual thing, little wonder the Holy Spirit requires your faith to thrive or function. The Holy Spirit is given to us so we can live a successful and victorious Christian life.
Just as we receive Him, we also need faith to keep on living in Him. It is worthy of note, however, that faith is so pivotal to our journey as Christians that we cannot even have it without the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:3
