The Nature of Being Faithful

The Nature of Being Faithful

Text:

Mathew 21:28-31

Memory Verse:

Luke 16:10

The lyrics of this great hymn we sing comes to mind as we study this fruit of the Spirit “Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father; there is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not; as Thou hast been, Thou forever will be….”
As with all the fruits of the spirit, God Himself is unarguably the perfect model we must study and emulate for examples of faithfulness. God has proven Himself over and over again both in the Old and New Testament that irrespective of the people, circumstance or situation, when all is said and done, He never wavers in His faithfulness. Faithful is who God is; it is the very essence of His being 2 Timothy 2:13 buttresses this fact “If we are unfaithful, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself (NLT). He is one hundred percent faithful. God’s faithfulness should awaken faith in us so we can respond in submissive allegiance and obedience to Him. As sons and daughters of this faithful Father, It has become our responsibility to imitate this nature in Him by committing our lives to well doing, being trustworthy in words and deeds irrespective of what others are doing, the situation and the cost. God’s promises are sure, His actions are always right (He will do what He says He will do), His words are always true (He means what He says and says what He means), never deceiving, never inconsistent and never disappointing. Jesus who was God in the flesh proved that it is possible to be faithful here on earth. As He is so we should be, always striving to display this nature in all aspects of our lives through the help of the Holy Spirit.

The Nature of Faithfulness

1. Trustworthiness in words– Matt 5:37, Jas 3:2, Matt 12:37.
2. Trustworthiness in service– Heb 3:5-6.
3. Faithfulness in all aspect of life:
a. It should be a life style, it should not be something one turns on or off at will.
b. All that we do should be done faithfully.
c. It should affect live around us.
